The holidays bring out the very best of Savannah living – front doorsopen, tables set, and friends gathering from near and far. When someone invites you into their home this time of year, a hostess gift isn’t just polite, it’s a small way of saying “thank you for having me.” Itdoesn’t need to be fussy or over-the-top. Just thoughtful, pretty, and chosen with care. A well-chosen gift sets the tone for the evening and reminds your hostess that you appreciate the effort behind every
candle lit and every platter set out.
Your Hostess Will Thank You Later
Now for a few of my personal favorites. These are the gifts I reach for again and again beautiful, practical, and always appreciated. When you want to show up well, any of these will do the trick.

…or So They Say
Every year someone swears the market shuts down for the holidays, but Savannah never quite behaves that way. What we actually see is a shift, not a stop. Buyers have a little more room to think, sellers have a better chance to stand out, and the serious folks are still moving with purpose. It’s calmer, yes, but it’s nowhere near quiet. If you want a clear read on what’s happening in your neighborhood while everyone else is wrapped up in holiday plans, I’m here.

Even with the wreaths and ribbons out, Savannah’s market doesn’t go dormant. Here’s what the numbers are telling us as we head into winter:

Each December, I keep one tradition that never fails me. When the house is calm and the lights are glowing, I set out a tray of warm blinis, a spoonful of crème fraîche, and just enough caviar to feel festive. I’ve long loved Petrossian for its classic elegance, but a spicy Cajun caviar has recently earned a place at the table-it adds a little Southern spirit to an old-world ritual. It’s simple, beautiful, and perfectly Savannah: understated luxury meant to be shared with
good champagne and good company.
When the caviar tray is chilled, the blinis are warm, and the champagne-Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs Brut is a favorite-is good and cold, the whole moment becomes its own quiet celebration.
